PERTH WATER SPORTS CLUB MARCH – AGM: FRIDAY 31ST MARCH AT 19:00

Here we are at the start of the 2023 season, and it is time for our AGM. The AGM will be held on Friday the 31st of March, starting at 19:00, in the clubhouse. Hopefully you can all attend as your club requires your input. Geoff Walker, your club’s Treasurer has sadly informed the committee that he will be resigning from his position. We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his unfailing support and guidance. He has been an invaluable asset and will be sadly missed by us all. We wish him all the best for his future! With Geoff’s resignation, there are now only 3 members on the committee, and this will be their 10th year in their roles, all of which is making it more difficult to run the club.

As a result of Geoff’s resignation, we now have a vacancy within the committee and would welcome any member to come forward. The committee and the club would give you their full support. Please give this voluntary position some serious thought as the club needs members to embrace all opportunities so that our club can continue to remain viable for the foreseeable future.

As stated in the previous newsletter at the end of 2022: unless the club sees an increase in membership this year and a sustained interest in members taking on committee roles, the closure of the club at the end of the 2024 season is still realistic. We want to inform you that during preparation for the upcoming AGM, the committee realised that if it were not for financial support the club received during the COVID-19 pandemic, then the club would have shut during the summer of last year due to a lack of funds.

In preparation for the season beginning please get your boats ready and memberships submitted as early in the year as possible. The new membership requests will be sent out shortly after the AGM. The earlier you pay for your membership, the sooner you can get on the water; which is better, both for the community feel of the club and you getting your moneys’ worth from your memberships.

SINCERELY,

YOUR COMMITTEE
